Description

Get unstuck from mud, sand, or snow — without waiting for a tow truck.

The Nomad Tyre Grip Tracks are a compact, roll-up traction aid built for 4WDs, SUVs, and light vehicles. Whether you're bogged on a beach, stuck in outback sand, or spinning out on a snowy track, these recovery mats slot under your tyres in seconds and give your wheels the grip they need to get moving again. Made from heavy-duty TPR rubber with galvanised steel cables, they're tough enough to handle the worst Australian terrain throws at you — and light enough to carry without thinking twice.

Why You'll Love It

Compact enough to always have on board

Rolls up tight into the included canvas carry bag, so it sits neatly in your boot, under a seat, or strapped to your roo bar. No reason to leave home without it.

Works in the conditions that matter most

Engineered specifically for traction in mud, sand, and snow. The raised cross-bar profile bites into loose surfaces and lets your tyre spin forward, not sideways.

No special skills required

Place the track in front of (or behind) your drive wheels, get in, and drive forward. No jacking, no ropes, no second person needed — solo recovery made simple.

Key Features

  • TPR Rubber Construction: Heavy-duty thermoplastic rubber resists cracking, UV degradation, and temperature extremes — built for Australian conditions year-round.
  • Galvanised Steel Cables: High-tensile steel cables run through every rung, keeping the track rigid under load and preventing deformation when tyres press down.
  • 2-Tonne Load Rating: Rated to handle vehicles up to 2 tonnes — covers most 4WDs, SUVs, utes, and light passenger vehicles.
  • Multiple Length Options: Available in 60 cm, 80 cm, and 100 cm lengths to suit different tyre sizes and recovery situations.
  • Roll-Up Design: Flexible construction rolls into a tight cylinder in seconds for compact storage — no folding, no fuss.
  • Canvas Carry Bag Included: Each set comes with a durable canvas bag with carry handle for clean, organised storage in your vehicle.
  • Universal Fit: Suits sedans, SUVs, 4WDs, and light trucks under 7 tonnes — one product covers the whole family fleet.
Rated to 2 tonnes. Weighs under 5 kg. Fits in a backpack.
This is the recovery gear you'll actually have with you when you need it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need two tracks, one for each tyre?

For most recovery situations on a 2WD-active vehicle, one track placed under the spinning tyre is enough to get moving. For serious off-road use or a fully bogged 4WD, having two tracks (one per drive wheel) improves success rate significantly. We recommend buying a pair if you regularly drive on soft surfaces.

Will this work on a beach or sand dune?

Yes — the tracks are purpose-built for sand recovery. The rigid cross-bar profile creates a temporary firm surface under the tyre so it can grab traction instead of digging deeper. Works best when you slightly deflate your tyres (as you should for beach driving anyway) and keep momentum steady as you drive off the track.

How do I clean them after use?

Rinse with a garden hose or bucket of water. The TPR rubber won't absorb mud or corrode, so they clean up quickly. Roll up once dry and store back in the bag. The galvanised steel cables are rust-resistant so a bit of moisture won't cause any long-term damage.

Are these suitable for a full-size 4WD or just smaller cars?

The tracks are rated to 2 tonnes and compatible with vehicles under 7 tonnes GVM, which covers the vast majority of passenger 4WDs (LandCruiser, Patrol, Prado, Hilux, etc.). For very large trucks or heavy machinery, these are not the right tool.

Which length should I choose?

The 80 cm option suits most standard SUV and 4WD tyre sizes and gives a good balance of traction length and portability. The 100 cm version provides a longer run-up for deeper bogs. The 60 cm is the most compact choice if boot space is tight and you want a light emergency option.
